I I have really been slacking lately. I just haven't felt like updating, even though a million things have been going on with me. I get into work in the morning and I think, "I really need to talk about blank," and then by the end of the day I just can not be bothered to do it. I get like this sometimes, when I am feeling apathetic or troubled. Writing here makes me think about my life and what's been going on, and sometimes when your life is out of sorts you just want to read about Britney on Defamer and zone out. Know what I'm sayin'? Anyway, I think I have basically got my life together, decisions have been made, names have been taken, and now I'm ready to start freakin' writing again. Okay? Okay.
Tons of events have taken place since I last wrote, most importantly the engagement party of Bells and Buster. I flew out to LA after work last Friday. My flight was supposed to arrive at 11:30 PM, just in time for me to meet up with all my ladies for a night out. Unfortunately, the Plane Gods were against me, and my flight didn't arrive until 2:30 AM. That's right - ANTE MERIDIEM. I felt so sorry for The Boyfriend, who had to pick me up at that ungodly hour. WE didn't get to sleep until after 3, and then we were up at 7:45 ANTE MERIDIEM so I could go surfing. Poor TB - he was my official chauffer for the weekend. We got to the beach where I met up with D Wop for two quality hours of surfing...if by "quality" you mean we fell a lot since we hadn't surfed in almost a year. Then it was off to Sharkeez, where a huge group of us had breakfast. I saw old favorites like Kimbrough, Jax, Bells, Brookums, Woodsy, and Les, and my new favorite, Bells' engagement ring. At that point, I was freaking exhausted and TB's eyes were half-closed, so we went home for a while to sleep before we got ready for the engagement party.
At the party I saw more long-lost peeps like Suz and New Big Head, along with Bells' parents and grand parents. I have this habit of making myself look stupid in front of los padres de Bells, so I was determined to be on my best behavior. I should have known that it was going to end badly when I was seated with Handle, Kimbrough, Woodsy, Jax, and TB...we were definitely the best table. Everyone wanted to be seated with us. For reals. We had a blast telling stories and getting caught up. There were lots of speeches (including a spur-o-the-moment speech by Handle, which was actually very good despite a random mention of one of Buster's exes) and lots of drinks. And even though I made sure to not drink too much while around Bells' parents, I still managed to spill my water and break a glass in front of Bells' dad. Nice work. After the dinner we were off to a bar where more drinking took place, then it was off to beddy-bye. We were TIRED, man!
On Sunday, while TB slept in, I went to meet Bri and her mom for brunch. Then we went WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING! It was so fun. Bri looked freaking HOT in all the dresses she tried on, even the ones that were not ideal. It was so much fun to see her in all the pretty dresses, and I even got to try on a bridesmaid frock. I was so glad I got to go with her...I want to go again! After that, TB and I hung out and talked and I made tacos and it was good times. The next day I saw my parents and T, then it was off to the airport for the red eye. No one ever tells you this, but red eyes totally suck. Especially when you have to go to work the next day.
Now, Les and Matty are in town! Tonight we are going to the Dodgers/Mets game and I am so excited. I haven't seen the Dodgers play all year, so this is a real treat. Then tomorrow the three of us, along with Handle, are driving down to the USC/VA Tech game in the D.C. area. Go Trojans! It's going to be a fun weekend. I want it to go on forever, a) because it will be fun, and b) because when we get back it will be time for the Republican Convention here. I am not looking forward to the craziness in the form of tons of delegates and protestors. No fun, people! No fun at all! That being said, if anything crazy happens I will totally take pictures. It's what I do for you people. Just keep your fingers crossed that "crazy" means like, naked people riding donkeys down the street. Nothing bad.
Okay, gotta go! Go Dodgers, go Trojans, go me!

I hate coming back from a vacation to all the work that piles up. I was only gone for TWO DAYS, but I still had an insane amount of work waiting for me when I got back. Where is all this work every other day is what I want to know. Oh, we don't have any interns for two weeks, that's what it is. Some people have no idea how to help themselves. Bitter much? Yes. Oh well, in 30 minutes I am OUTTA here, and then I refuse to think about work for 60 hours.
I had a blast in Vegas. It was so nice to have the first day with The Boyfriend so we could catch up. My flight didn't get into Vegas until 12:30 am, so we thought checking into the hotel at that time of night would be a breeze. Wrong! The line was 15 minutes long at 1:15 in the morning. How crazy is that? We finally got our information and made our way to our room, only to discover that we'd been placed in a smoking room with two beds. My sinuses went crazy, and I made The Boyfriend call down to the front desk to complain. We had already pre-paid for our room, and we'd paid for a king bed in a non-smoking room. I wasn't going to stand for it! While I blew my nose and generally bitched, TB made a couple of calls down to the front desk and eventually got us a nice, one bed, smoke free, upgraded room. Good work, Stratosphere. I was gonna kick your ass, but you made good. We had a nice, relaxing time there after that little fiasco. We spent time at the pool, chilled in the sports book, drank some Yards, and gambled. TB had a great round of Black Jack, so good that it paid for our nice dinner! That's when gambling rules.
On Sunday the rest of my family got into town, including the birthday girl Princess Leah! We immediately went to a bar in our (new) hotel and made her order a drink. She was carded and the bartender had enough going on to realize it was her birthday, and wished her a happy one. I only say that because when I was a bartender, I was so out of touch with the world that I never knew what date it was, and therefore never realized if it was a person's birthday when I carded unless one of the other people in the group pointed it out. Anyway, she got carded a lot in Vegas. So did I. Nice to know I still look young, right? I'd like to think that's the reason! After a few drinks, we went to a yummy dinner, then back to the hotel to prepare for a fun night out. Princess Leah and I gambled, drank, gambled, and drank some more. In all, a fab time.
The next morning I had to wake up super early to take The Boyfriend to the airport so he could catch his flight back to LA. I was sad to see him leave. I managed to sleep a few more hours when I got back to the hotel, then it was off to the (better) pool. The Mandalay Bay only has 20 cabanas, and they sell out quickly. You can only reserve them a week in advance, and when I called a week prior I was told they were all reserved and my only shot was to show up that day at 11 am and see if there were any cancellations. I got there at 10 and there were already 6 groups ahead of me. I ended up waiting in line for an hour and a half before one of the cabana rental girls stuck her head out of her nice little air conditioned office (after making us move out of the shade into the sun for the last 50 minutes of waiting) to say, "If you're waiting for a cabana cancellation, you can stop. We only have three available." Everyone was PISSED, because they could have told us that much sooner. So effing lame. However, I did not let my wasted 90 minutes bother me, and I proceeded to enjoy the rest of my time at the pool. It's a great pool area, with a lazy river, a wave pool, and like 3 other pools. And misters! Those felt nice. I got a bit of color, too, which made me so happy - I don't look as much like a pale easterner! Woo!
Okay, it's 6 pm and I am SO over this place! I'll write more later, peeps!

Have you missed me? Holy crap, I haven't updated in a while...two and a half weeks might be the longest I've ever gone. I have been rather busy at work these last few weeks. It's the time of year where I have to gather up all our material for the Grammy awards, and it is freaking exhausting. A typical day during the awards submission period goes like this for me: morning - check email, answer questions about awards categories; afternoon - chase marketing reps and managers about what categories they want their artists entered into; late afternoon/evening - enter every single entry into the computer. Sounds easy, but it is so exhausting and annoying, and entering all those musicians into the different categories takes forever. The last thing I wanted to do after going cross-eyed from the entry forms was write here. I typically would go home and freebase some chocolate milk mix. Good times. At least the Grammy submission period is over...there is another one at the end of August but it is much easier as it only covers two months of releases.
I feel like I haven't done much lately, but now that I think about it, I guess I have. I've gone to the movies, and bowling, and had a few meals out. A few parties here and there. My friend Eri and I went to a "disposable clothing" party. Basically everyone there had to wear clothes that could get ruined. This is because the guys throwing the party have neighbors that like to throw things down on the people enjoying the festivities in the courtyard. While I was there, the neighbors only threw water, but I heard paint was thrown after I left. Eri and I wrapped ourselves in aluminum foil and saran wrap - it looked great, but it was SOOOO HOT! The best part of the night was when I cut it off and put on regular clothes. Other than all of that though, I have been trying to be mellow and fiscally responsible. Evaluating my life and stuff. I know, what's that about? I'm really excited for this weekend: It's Princess Leah's 21st birthday, and I am going out to Vegas to celebrate. I can't wait to see her and make her drink too much. I also get to see The Boyfriend, my parents, my aunt from Seattle, and my aunt & uncle from San Diego. I haven't seen my aunts or uncle since last year, so that will be awesome.
Mostly, it will just be awesome to get out of New York. The weather here has been so hard for me to deal with...I love hot weather. LOVE IT. But humidity. Oh my. It is awful. I wish a horrible, painful death upon it. And, all these terror warnings have me worn out. I can't even imagine what it must have been like in the city after September 11th, but I think it's safe to at least assume it was exhausting. There are police and security everywhere, so it's not that I don't feel safe - especially since I am not near any of the "targets" - it's just unsettling. But, I just keep telling myself that nothing is going to happen, because it's not. La la la! Nothing bad! Happy Place!!!
